WWYCSW

Once again this week Family American Style is hosting "What Would Your Children Say Wednesday". As some of you already know, we are SLOWLY trying to take Aidan's binky away. We thought we would go cold turkey but that just isn't happening. YET.

The other night the three of us were sitting in the living room and Aidan had his binky in his mouth and Adam took it out and said "Aidan, you do not need your binky, you are a big boy now". Adam then handed me the binky to hide while Aidan began to WHINE. After ten minutes of this I bring the binky back in to view and again tell Aidan he is a big boy and big boy's don't use binky's. I then proceed to say "Aidan are you a big boy or are you a baby?" He screams "BABY", grabs the binky and takes off. Adam and I were cracking up. His voice is just so cute we can't help it. P.S. He can be my baby FOREVER if he wants! Ha.

LOVE IT!!!!!!! We are working on that with a 2 1/2 year old whether he is a baby or a big boy. They are so sweet!!!!! My "BIG Boy" who is almost 21 is still my baby but he would not dare tell you that!!!!!

Very Cute! I wish you could make your kids stay little forever. Ofcourse I would want my ageing process to stop to.

I remember when my son had that sweet little voice. It would also crack me up. Their sweet voice with their sweet personalities are just so cute.

LOL, that is too funny! That is something I could so picture my son (21 months) saying.

ha ha!!! I love it!

We just recently took the paci away from my nearly 2 year old.

We started by taking it away during the day. I stopped attaching it to her and when she would leave it somewhere I would grab it and hide it. When she would ask for it I would try and distract her, and when we got a big fit I'd give it to her. It got to the point where I could tell her to say "night night" to it and leave it in her crib. Then came breaking her of it during the night...Which I did cold turkey one night.

It was horrible I'll admit. She screamed bloody murder for about 10 minutes and then finally fell asleep (which is good because I was ready to crack) she woke up once at like 4:30am whined and fell back alseep. The fits only lasted about 3-4 days bigger fits during nap time than night time...but she doesn't even ask for it now. Nor does she care about her baby sister having one. (I made sure to buy completely different colors for the new baby so she knows they are not hers)

Good luck...:-)

My oldest had binkis. I loved them and thought they were so cute! My daughter LOVED them too and usually had one in her mouth and one in each hand. Unfortunately when she was 2 1/2 we decided we better try to get rid of them. Her teeth were started to push forward too. It was October and we didn't wait til christmas, but we told her that if she gave her binkis to Santa, he would give them to kids that need them and she could get some new toys. We went to the store and she picked out a baloon, a sucker and a tub toy. We talked the check-out girl in to taking the binkis and told Lily that she would make sure Santa got them. She had 1 night of crying for her binki and that was it. No more binkis. None of my other kids ever liked binkis and my youngest loves her thumb. That is not going to be so easy to take away! Good luck!

What a cute family you have. It seems like kids will say anything to get what they want. Good luck with getting rid of it and have a great time on vacation!
