I wanted to share a letter I dropped off for Candace the night before this first ultrasound. I hope you don't mind Can! It has the sweetest poem at the end.
Candace,
It’s crazy to think that we used to sit around and talk about what it would be like to be married and have kids and here we are, happily married, me with a son and you with an already perfect baby on the way. Life has really come full circle hasn't it? I wanted to write you a little note and tell you that I am so proud to call you my friend and to tell you I am already so crazy about this baby you are having. What a dream come true for you to be pregnant. I can’t wait for you to feel what I felt the first time I held Aidan. I can’t wait for baby showers and nursery decorating. I look forward to talks about poopie diapers and play dates. I can’t wait to see you grow as a mom. I know you are going to be so amazing at it. I promise you that I will always be there for you and that everything you are about to experience is such a miracle and worth every day of heart burn, back aches, stretch marks and huge boobies. Someone gave me this poem when I was pregnant and I wanted to pass it along to you. I hope you enjoy it. I love you very much and I cannot wait to meet baby Goodman! Love Always, Ape
I loved you from the very start…
You stole my breath, embraced my heart.
Our life together has just begun,
You’re part of me, my little one.
As mother with child, each day I knew
My mind would be filled with thoughts of you.
I’m daydreaming of the things we’ll share,
Like late-night bottles and teddy bears.
Like first steps and skinned knees,
Like bedtime stories and ABC’s.
I’m thinking of things you’ll want to know,
Like how birds fly and flowers grow.
I’ve thought of lessons I’ll need to share,
Like standing tall and playing fair.
When I first see your precious face,
I’ll pray your life be touched with grace.
I’ll thank the angels from above,
And promise you unending love.
Each night I’ll lay you down to sleep,
I’ll gently kiss your head and cheek.
I’ll count your little fingers and toes,
I’ll memorize your eyes and nose.
I will linger at your nursery door,
Awed each day that I love you more.
Through misty eyes, I’ll dim the light,
And whisper, “I love you” every night.
As mother with child our journey’s begun,
My heart’s yours forever, little one.
I loved you from the very start…
You stole my breath, embraced my heart.
I also gifted Can with this frame (except in black). It reads "Love at First Sight". Her hubby bought her one as well. So now she has one for her house and one for work! It's really super cute.
Now back to baby shower planning...haha!
