Haiti

Well I really do have about a million things I want to blog about tonight but instead I just want to post the link to a blog I read. This woman (Kristen) and her husband (Mark) have three children. She just ran the Disney marathon in Orlando last weekend and headed to Haiti (with her 11 month old daughter) to visit their son they are trying to adopt (this would make 4 children). I know you can see where this is going. She was there when the earthquake hit and is still there trying to find strength to keep herself together enough to find a way to get back to the Unites States. It was looking like the first flight out wasn't going to be until February. UPDATE: Last I heard (via Twitter) she and another woman had made their way to the US Embassy and were secured on a flight back to the United States tonight or first thing in the morning through the Dominican Republic. I am assuming since her adoption is not finalized she is going to have to leave her son behind. I can't imagine how she is feeling right now. So, please, please, please keep her and her family (and friends) in your prayers.

It's a learning process

Me: Adam!! The recipe for dinner tonight calls for stone ground grits.

Adam: OK.

Me: Where the hell are we going to find someone that grind grits with a stone?

Adam: Babe, we can get them at the grocery store.

This Week's Meals

Today mark's an entire week of cooking at home. I have been pleasantly surprised at how much I have enjoyed it. I am in need of some ideas for the next couple of weeks if anyone has any. In the meantime, this is what I am cooking this week. Last time, I posted, I got some emails about recipes. I told ya'll this stuff was simple and really good!! I am branching out and getting a little bit braver this week! Wish me luck!!!

Right now this is designated for our date night. I don't know if I had mentioned it, BUT Adam and I have decided that instead of going out as much as we were, we would designate one night a month to have a planned date night. This way, we know ahead of time when it's going to be, we won't be rushing around looking for a babysitter and if we need to make reservations to go to dinner we will have time. It will also be something fun to look forward to!! But about the menu, we will be eating out and I will probably to mac and cheese and home made chicken nuggets for Aidan to eat with the sitter.

Announcing...

The soon the be newest addition of the Goodman family! That's right blog readers, the best kept secret EVER is out! My best friend, Candace (remember her wedding blog post in September) is expecting!!! In August (12Th to be exact!!!) ! I have been dying to share but promised to keep the secret until she got a chance to see the little sweetheart for the first time! When she told me, I literally started balling and ran around the house in circles at the same time!! I have been DYING for her to be pregnant and join the fun, fabulous and extremely exclusive motherhood club!!! Congrats to you my best friend and the little bun in the oven! Baby G (for now).

I wanted to share a letter I dropped off for Candace the night before this first ultrasound. I hope you don't mind Can! It has the sweetest poem at the end.

It’s crazy to think that we used to sit around and talk about what it would be like to be married and have kids and here we are, happily married, me with a son and you with an already perfect baby on the way. Life has really come full circle hasn't it? I wanted to write you a little note and tell you that I am so proud to call you my friend and to tell you I am already so crazy about this baby you are having. What a dream come true for you to be pregnant. I can’t wait for you to feel what I felt the first time I held Aidan. I can’t wait for baby showers and nursery decorating. I also gifted Can with this frame (except in black). It reads "Love at First Sight". Her hubby bought her one as well. So now she has one for her house and one for work! It's really super cute.

Wacky Wednesday

Not too much going on here.

Sold this on Craig's List today. Our first sofa together. We bought it after I won $1000 playing poker one night. We were both sad to see it go. We had some good times on that sofa. Even Aidan cried. Why did we sell it again??

Aidan is working on his potty training. He had been asleep for an hour and then woke up because he had to "pee pee". OR check out what his Dada was doing. That's the explanation for his sleepy eyes.

This is what I made for dinner. Apricot beef stir fry. I need new plates. I bought these when we moved in because "they would go with anything". Now they just bore me. The stir fry was really good though. I was nervous because I don't even like apricots but it turned out so well and was super easy to make. Adam had seconds. Mmmm hmmm. I'm getting good girls.

This is what I will be buying with the money from the sale of my sofa. It's on sale at C&B for $199. Steal huh? I will even have money left over to buy some new wines glasses (b/c I need more wine glasses like a need a hole in my head). Maybe, I'll go to the wine store and stock the bottom. Amanda, you need one of these too!

This is our new kitty. Well, she isn't new. She has been with us for about 2 months now. I just haven't said anything about her for two reasons. The first one being, we have had bad luck with kitties lately and I didn't want to jinx her and second, we couldn't come up with a name for her until two days ago. So, ladies and gentlemen, I introduce to you, Ruby Harvey. She loves Adam and hates me. Surprise. Adam picked her up from a farm where he was purchasing some landscaping equipment. She was in rough shape. We took her to the vet and got her all fixed up.
Oh and one other thing, I hope it looks like this when I get up in the morning.

Minus my brother because he always wants something to eat when he comes over.

I could take Aidan sledding instead of to school.
We could snuggle because it was too cold to do anything else.

Wanna See Something Sweet?

This is a nightly occurrence in our house. I don't even get invited in the room. As a matter of fact, I got in trouble for taking this picture. Really though, I think it's the sweetest thing. Adam reading to Aidan every night before he goes to bed. I do bath time, he does book time. He gets the better end of the deal but I'm not complaining. He deserves this much love.

Leftovers

Well my meal planning has been going GREAT! We have so much food leftover that instead of having honey glazed chicken, which I only think was tonight's meal, I haven't even looked, we are having leftover Tortellini Marinara. With garlic knots made my hubby. Let me just say, he marinates them in garlic butter before hand, and then sprinkles (well pours on mine) parmesan. They are garlic knot perfection. And in about 4.2 minutes they will be ready so I better set the table.

I may or may not have some energy later to take pictures of the new orange (gasp) lamp I bought for the kid's room. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Adam, well he might kinda love it but not really at all. That's why I do the decorating and he just makes the money for me to do it. Love you buns. I have been on Wolf Camera's website for what seems like hours now trying to upload fun pics of Aidan for all the frames I bought for his room.

Last quick thing, I need HELP. With our new schedule, we are pretty much done everything by 6:30PM and are bored out of our minds. Got any ideas? Last night we stood around the living room and laughed at ourselves in this ridiculous prediciment. I know I said I wanted to be more organized but I have way too much time on my hands now.
