Copying the Copy Cat

I love this blog.  I am a pretty good at finding Copy Cat's of things I want without sacrificing quality but she's made a blog out of it.  I wanted to share with you my latest Copy Cat.

I have being eyeing a Pottery Barn (surprise right) floor lamp for some time now.  I thought it would be a great addition to our new room. I loved the size of it and the detail. The only thing I didn't like was the price tag.   Lucky for my a found a solution to that.   Lucky for you if you too have a Home Goods in your area that has the lamp.

My FIND
(I apologize for the bad picture. The lamp is not in it's final spot.)

Home Goods Wood Lamp WITH Shade $99.00!!!
I saved myself $110 plus shipping!!

For those of you that do not know, Home Good's is owned by Marshall's so if you have one of those, you may be able to find this lamp there as well. Happy hunting. Anyone else have an good Copy Cats?

Did I Tell You We Went to Florida?

Oh well we did.  This past weekend.  6 hours to get there.  39 hour visit.  6 hours home.  We got to spend time with Adam's mom so it was worth it.  Here are some photos from the beach of my little man.

She Said It First

I have had this blog sitting in my queue to finish but my bloggy bud Katherine at Barefoot Daydreams beat me to the punch and posted this blog on Friday.

Are we the only ones crushing on Bethenny Frankel?  I have been a fan since the very first season of RHONY.  She came to Charlotte to do a book signing and of course is was the night there wasn't a babysitter left in this city so I missed out.   I follow her on Twitter and I must tell you, I  wake up looking forward to hearing what funny one liner she has put out for the day.

I have yet to buy a book or a cocktail of hers but it is on my 6 month old to do list.     Yeah, yeah, I know. I'm chipping away at it.  A girlfriend of mine, raves about her books and coincidentally I am getting ready to jump on the loose some weight wagon so one of those purchases may be happening sooner than later.  And for the record, I would buy a thousand books if it meant she would continue her Bravo reality TV show Bethenny Getting Married for all eternity.    I don't think I've laughed so hard in my life.  I love it so much I don't even DVR it.  I run around my house like a crazed woman getting everything done that needs to be so I can be ready to watch it live every Thursday.  That says a lot.  Get this.  Adam loves her too.   Seriously if you haven't tuned in,  see if you can catch up on Hulu or Bravo TV On Demand.  This week is the season finale and I promise you would be doing yourself a favor if you spent the next four days catching up so you can tune in on Thursday.

Look What I Did...

I downloaded a free 30 day trial of Lightroom on my computer and I started to play...

I turned this photo ...

In to this...

I know it's not perfect but it's a start.

Obviously I need to take some better pictures to try this out on but I worked with what I had.

I am so excited! It really is so easy. I knew I was going to be addicted.  I have a million things I want to learn how to do but "antiquing" was something I was dying to figure out.   I wish the price of the program wasn't $600 but I might just have to save up!

I think Adam's The Mom

I wear the title and the imaginary sash, but really Adam does the work.   Yes, yes I do the work too but y'all he's great.  I think I say that a lot but I'm going to keep on saying it because he deserves a whole lotta credit.

Exhibit A:   He's a worrier.   I worry but about things like what the neighbors will think if the grass doesn't get mowed.  Tonight we were sitting on the sofa (I do worry about people calling it a couch) and out of the blue Adam says to me "What will we do if Aidan is different and kids are mean to him."  Well hello, he's different, have you seen that wedgie he is sporting and his chocolate milk mustache makes him look like he hit puberty a little early.  In all seriousness, I just don't think about it that much.  I automatically assume that kids are mean and we will naturally have times where we have to sit Aidan down make him feel better because some kid made fun of him.  But I don't worry.  Adam is already hurting for him and he hasn't even been beat up yet.

Exhibit B:  If Adam works late, and Aidan is in bed before he gets home. When he walks in the door the first thing out of his mouth is "do you mind if I jump in bed with the kid for a little bit?"  Like he just wants to cuddle his little sleeping body and smell his baby smells.   Sometimes Aidan will open his little eyes and smile at him and say "Daddy you home from work?" and Adam says "Yes, I missed you." and they smooch and Aidan goes back to sleep and Adam's day is complete.

Exhibit C:  I tell this story to people all the time.  When Aidan came home from the hospital he would (obv) wake up every night.   Before I could open my eyes Adam was in a running sprint to get Aidan.  He never wanted me to get to him first. That would limit his cuddle time with him and considering he had to be up in a few hours to work he knew he should cherish their time.   Yup, not once can I remember getting up in the night and getting him.  If I had allowed it,  Adam probably would have let me sleep right through the breastfeeding process.   He could have just hooked him right up.  His bassinet was always on his side of the bed.  He would hang a hand over the side and periodically check to make sure he was still breathing.  If a peep came out of that child, Adam was upright trying to soothe him.  I swear, we made it those first few months because of Adam.  Well really, I swear we make it through everyday because Adam pulls his weight and does it well.  I do my part too but that man, he is as much of a mom as I am.

He would be mad at me for calling him a mom because he wears his Daddy title so proudly.  It's like he was made to be a Dad. I get all giddy on the inside when we take drives looking at big houses in cul de sacs, talking about more babies, daydreaming about what our future holds and Adam talks about how he wants to give us the world.   Its amazing how lucky I got to get a man that gets up every morning with the desire to just make us happy.

Y'all that man is great.  There, I said it again.

Vintage Industrial Furniture

Recently I have been scouring the Internet looking for a great piece of furniture (again. can you believe it?) to put underneath our TV.  In case you did not know, I am the anti entertainment center.   I want a piece that would go with our decor but wasn't cookie cutter like everything else I own.  I found this amazing guy that makes out of this world vintage, industrial furniture.  I think it looks like so French Industrial.   I recently contacted him and I am hoping he will be coming back to me with plans to make something right out of my dreams.   Here are a few samples of his stuff:
