Mama GOT A BRAND NEW...Cupholder

My girlfriend Amanda may be the only one who can appreciate this as much as me because she is my shopping buddy and no one likes to carry their drink around the mall. Soooooooooo (drum roll please) I finally broke down and bought the cup hold for the BOB (Stroller). It even has a compartment for my phone and keys. Woop woop! Moving on up!!!

Aidan's Big Boy Room

I am putting some finishing touches on Aidan's big boy room but I figured I could post some pictures of the almost finished product for your viewing pleasure.

I was so torn for the longest time what to do about a duvet cover. Most people know I am not in to theme's. Especially at this stage in his life, so I didn't want to get anything with a print on it. Candace and I were at the Pottery Barn Kids outlet two weeks ago and I found this and I am thrilled with it. It's a little but brighter in real life.

I have an orange throw on order from The Company Store for the end of his bed but it's on back order. Go figure. Turns out orange IS a popular color.

I love his slip covered bed. The minky pillow covers were designed by me, made by my mother in law. Haha. The rug is Pottery Barn Kids and was in his nursery and worked well in here as well so I left it for now.

It took me an entire week to paint these letters. I had to do a million coats of paint on each because the primer kept showing through. Adam did not know if he was going to like them until I put them up. I am quite proud of the finished product.





These Ikea shelves are on both sides of his window. They hold all of his books and little keepsakes from his childhood. You can barely see the baby shower invite from the shower thrown by Adam's mom and sister. The big blocks came from Garden Ridge and I am using them as book ends.

We are in between night stands right now. There is usually an espresso round table here with a glass top but I bought this at Home Goods the other day. I am trying to decide which to keep. This one is really growing on me. I love the orange lamp and frames with pictures of Aidan in them.
The rocking chair you can sort of see in the picture was mine when I was a baby! Crazy huh? It needs to be re stained but I haven't made it that far yet!


I am sure you all remember the dresser I distressed for him a couple of months ago. Here it is again. I am most likely going to paint the mirror chocolate brown to match the shelves.

These are just some little items on one of Aidan's shelves. I love the little frame with his name and words about little boys in it. It was made for my baby shower by a dear friend of mine (Katie B.) The sterling silver frame was a shower gift from my friend Betsy. I had it monogrammed when Aidan was born. And the little pewter race car I picked up at TJ Maxx for 2 bucks.

Nightstands

Adam and I have never had matching nightstands because when we moved in together, I brought my bedroom set that my parent's bought me and it only had one nightstand.

Since we bought our new bed from Pottery Barn, I have been on the hunt for nightstands are similar to the ones pictured below but without the $400 price tag and I knew I wanted them to be antique white.


So....this is what I came up with.


Just so you would believe me, I left the $79.99 price tag on them. The picture doesn't do a good job representing the color (it's the antique white I wanted) and I didn't get two drawers but they are huge (26x26) and I love them. Did I mention I saved myself $320?? I ordered two baskets from Pottery Barn to put on the bottom of them to throw random stuff in.

CONFESSION & Mariann's Weekend

We did not take one.single.picture this weekend. Isn't that horrible? It would be except we were just too busy having so much fun we forgot.

We started out the weekend being almost an hour late picking up Mare from the airport. Oops! First of all, Mare told us her flight came in at 1:30 when in actuality if I had looked at her itinerary I would have known that it came in at 1:01. I let Adam take my car (because he had Aidan) and run some errands because Amanda was going to come get me when she got off of work at 1 (5 minutes away). You can imagine my freak out when I got online to check Mare's flight and it was IN @ 12:45!! Eek! I had no car and Amanda wasn't even getting off until 1. I called Mare and she was sweet enough to just slowly walk to baggage claim and get her suitcase so it didn't seem like she was waiting forever!!

Amanda and Mare both wanted to hang out with Aidan for a little bit so we came home to see the kid and Mariann brought him a paint set that he loves. You can only paint on special paper which is WONDERFUL because it is mess free. Mare is so smart.

We had dinner and went out for the night. You could tell I never go out anymore because come 10:30 I was exhausted. If it wasn't for all of our friends that came out to see Mare, I never would have made it until 2am. Saturday morning some of us were hungover but we picked Aidan up from my parents and we shopped at Southpark for the afternoon. The CIAA tournament was in town so the mall was packed but Mare and Amanda both got gorgeous new bags. Saturday night we had dinner and came home and the four of us (Amanda, Adam, Me and Mare) climbed on to the sofa (thank goodness for our sectional) and watched "Legend's of the Fall". It really was nice to just sit around with Mariann like we used to and do nothing. Her company is really all we needed! Sunday we were up and at em' and headed to the Pancake House for breakfast. Afterwards we went to Polished Nail Bar and had manicures and pedicures. It was dreamy. The best part? Free wine. Before we knew it, we were standing outside the airport with tears running down our cheeks saying our goodbyes. Every time Mariann leaves Amanda and I have a little mini breakdown on the way home. She is such a sweet friend and we just don't get to see her enough. It was a great weekend and I'm always depressed for weeks after she leaves.

I think I will start planning our next trip to visit her in Boston now.

Saturday Night

You know you are getting old when your best friend travels 600 miles to see you and you get too drunk the night before (and by drunk I mean 3 beers) to do anything the second night she is here so you are watching "Legends of the Fall" with your best friends and husband.

Mare Bear

One of my very best friends Mariann is flying in tomorrow for the weekend!! I couldn't be more excited. I am sad to report that I have not seen her since the week after my wedding last October! Scary. We are OBSESSED with her boyfriend Mike Arena (also known as Macarena and we do the dance) so we will be sure to visit them up North this Spring. Cannot wait already.

I digress. So she comes in tomorrow, Amanda, Aidan and I are picking her up from the airport and the festivities begin! Our weekend looks like this:

Friday
1:30: The eagle lands
2:00-5:00 Hang out at the house, feed Mare a late lunch, catch up (like we need to) let her unpack.
6:00-Dinner at home by Chef Adam
7:00-Being the process of getting ready to go out. Three girls getting ready in one bathroom can be a looooong process.
9:30-Head to Tyberpalooza. A music festival being held at our favorite neighborhood bar this weekend. Was also the location of our Engagement Party.
2:00am-Home to bed.

Saturday

10-5 Eat, Nails, Eat, Shop, Eat, Shop, Eat, Shop...
6:00-Dinner Out...who knows where yet.

(I have Friday pretty down pat. Saturday will get figured out...right??)

Sunday-Mare goes home...sad.

Adam: Greatest idea ever babe.

April: What is it?

Adam: When Mare is in town this weekend, I'm going to fire up the smoker and start backyard BBQ season.

April: I cannot wait. I have been missing the patio and having everything grilled.

Adam: Mare is going to love me even more after she has some of my grilled perfection. I'm thinking wings and steaks, maybe shrimp rolled in sliced filet with cream cheese and jalapenos (LOVE BTW) maybe I'll even get crazy and try out a new rub on some ribs.

April: Sounds good...Except Mare's a vegetarian.

Adam: DAAAAAMN It! I always forget don't I? Well, not to worry, I will grill her up the best veggie burger I can find in a box.



MY BFF is going to be here in T-Minus 4 days!!!
