He's Got Jokes

Where do they come up with this stuff???

Me (to Aidan): Hey babe, want to go out for Mexican tonight?

Aidan: SURE! But this is not a date.

Me: Well I didn't think it was. I just thought it was you and me going for dinner.

Aidan:  If people see you with me, they will think your my girlfriend.

Me:  Silence.

Aidan: I'm big, I'm strong, I have muscles and I'm old.  I don't want anyone to think we're on a date.

Me: Fair.

He's 4 People! 4!!!

Memorial Day Weekend

I hope everyone had a marvelous Memorial Day Weekend. How lucky are we that we have men and women that do such a good job serving our country so that we can enjoy the freedoms of backyard BBQ's and pool days??

We spent our ENTIRE three day weekend by the pool at my parents rental house.  They move in to their condo Thursday (woop woop!!! Can't wait to show it to you all!) so our days are numbered at the private backyard oasis we have come to love.

Friday afternoon we got a really special treat and my girlfriend Amanda had a half day so she met us at home and we spent some time laying out and I got to take her to show her the rents new place.

Saturday morning we were at it again and even brought Scout along and we forced him to swim.  He's quite the little dog paddler.  We were there from sun up to sun down and then attempted to take Aidan to Speed Street but it was such. a. bust.  Not nearly as nice as it was when I was younger.  What happened Charlotte??

Sunday we had a repeat and my parents had chilled out on their packing enough to spend the day poolside with us!  It was lovely.  We always enjoy our time with them.  My Dad and Adam keep each other laughing, my Mom and I chat until we can't anymore and between the four of us, Aidan stays entertained.  We grilled hot dogs and hamburgers and they were delish!

Aidan had a sleepover with Nana and Grandpa and Adam and I got CRAZY!  As in came home, put on our jammies, ordered PIZZA HUT! (dinner #2) and fell asleep by 11:30.  Don't be jealous party people.

Monday we repeated our poolside routine and had fried chicken for dinner. If that's not a holiday weekend, I don't know what is! Adam needed the break and I'm always game to lounge around a pool.  Especially when my parents join in on the fun. They are basically my BFFs.   Whether they like it or not.

As usual no pics of me because I am the only one that takes any!  And they are all iPhone pics.  Sorry that I'm not sorry for that.

(L to R) Adam Harvey, Scout Harvey, Snake Eyes Harvey

Since we have been swimming at this pool we have removed 4 snakes, 2 mice, a mole and a chipmunk.  So every time Aidan goes near the filters I'm terrified something will be awaiting us.  He was retrieving his ball and I was standing at a distance. Luckily the coast was clear.

My favorite three boys in the world! Aid, My Dad and the Hubs.

Mr. Harvey enjoying his time off.

Monday night we were pooped so we watched Kung Fu Panda 2.

So excited it's already Weds!!!

Clemson Visit

A couple weekends ago, we took a trip to Clemson to take my youngest brother his car so he would have it for summer school.

Aidan is a lover of his uncle Jordan and an even bigger lover of his school.  He is a Clemson boy for sure.  He's already talking about going to college there.  Which makes his Nana and Grandpa beam with pride and makes his mother want to throw up.  Too soon for college talk people.

Long story short, he has a Clemson jersey but has been dying for a new one.  So after we had lunch we stopped in to one of the school stores and he decided he wanted a uniform/helmet "costume" combo pack.  And that is just what he got.  The second we paid for it he was dying to wear it.  We made him wait the 4 minute car ride back to my brother's apartment and you would have thought he was going to die.  The second the car was in PARK, he jumped out, stripped down and dressed himself head to toe in his new Clemson gear.  We then kissed Jordan "goodbye" and he wore it for the entire 3 hour drive.  He even fell asleep with the helmet on.  It was a good laugh for Adam, my Mom and myself.   He's a dedicated fan I tell ya.

Notice he has a Clemson paw on his Crocs as well.  The "pads" in the jersey are hilarious!

Footie Pajamas

As long as their making em' in our size, we'll be wearing em'.

And Aidan thinks he's the Incredible Hulk.

The Boy Can Swim!!

I think I've mentioned this but my parents have a pool in the backyard of their rental.  So EVERYDAY Aidan asks to go for a swim and since I'm a Mom always looking for something to do to fill time in the evenings before dinner, this has become our nightly ritual.

The Snake goggles will never get boring.

We didn't go over there tonight and my Dad called looking for us.  They are getting ready to move in to their condo next week and while they have a gorgeous pool there, we will miss having the pool all to ourselves everyday.   I mean sometimes, the kid swims nakey.  That's not going to be acceptable at "The Castle in Cotswold"  if you know what I mean.

He's got to work at kicking a little harder but he's getting there!

When we first started swimming over there, Aidan was nervous and refused to swim without his life jacket.  Now we can barely keep him from jumping in the deep end and swimming the length of the pool.  He literally taught himself how to swim. It kind of reminded me of my own childhood.  My grandparents had a pool and my grandfather just threw us all in.  It was sink or swim.  We all swam.

Although this looks like Aidan is drowning, he just wanted me to take a picture of him underwater.

I'm excited for Aidan that this will be his first summer of camp where he will hopefully pass his swim test and get to swim in the big pool with all the campers!!!

A little video in case you don't believe me.

Our Little Graduate

We had a big day around here on Tuesday.  Our little man graduated from the 4's class to TK! Really he could have graduated to go on to Kindergarten BUT he's right on the fence for age so I figured I'd keep him in pre school for another year.  It's another year I get to keep him for half days and I'm hoping he'll be more than ready for Kindergarten at 6 yrs old.  Win, Win.  I mean once they go to school, you never get them back.

(2nd from Right)

Anyways, it was a sweet little ceremony.  The paraded out to the graduation song and all wore little caps and gowns.  I think Adam teared up. Don't tell.

He did so well when they called his name.   He came right to the front of the stage, accepted his little diploma, gave Ms. Wendy a hug, flashed us a smile and went back to his seat.  They sang "It's a Grand Old Flag".  I have it all on video.

Afterwards we had a potluck luncheon and it was great to sit around with the families of his friends and chat about everyones plans for the summer.  We brought BBQ from Queen City Q and it was a huge hit. There were literally people that said they weren't going to eat lunch and once they saw BBQ, sat down to eat. Everyone loves BBQ.  We're in the South.

It was a fabulous morning and a little bittersweet.  I constantly find myself wanting to freeze time with this guy.  Isn't it that way for all you Moms?

Friday is right around the corner.  Who has fun plans for the holiday weekend??

Camera Dump Part 2

I'm laughing at how old these photos are.  The date on the file is Feb 17.  We had no winter this year so it wasn't uncommon for him to be running around sans jacket.  I remember the day I took these. It was after school one afternoon.  I had been unloading the dishwasher and noticed through the kitchen window my little daredevil was on our patio table running around.  I grabbed my camera and snapped these.

I realize I am lucky he is willing to entertain me enough to wear a scarf.

He is so cute!!! I love that face!

I will never be able to get enough of him!!!

Camera Dump

I know we have all grown accustomed to seeing people dump their Iphone or Instagram pictures but I needed to clean off my camera.  I had all this cute photos of Aidan but needed to clear up some storage space on my memory card. Lucky for you.

We took these pictures one day after Aidan got his new Converse with Batman on them.
Try not to leave any comments about how old he looks {cough, Amanda} I know and it's depressing.  Just tonight at my parents my mom tried to tell me he looks older today than he did yesterday! Sad face.

I mean, he could be a shoe model..

I have to admit, I'm not much of a "character" on his clothes or shoes kind of girl BUT he loved these and they were cute so I said "What the heck!".

Crazy hair, gorgeous face.

Funny faces...

I love this outfit by the way.  He makes a sweatpants day look good doesn't he?

More pics next week!

The Shops at Target

I am sure by now you've all seen the commercials for "The Shops" at Target.   It better not just be our TV that shows them every other commercial.  Before I even knew they were doing this, last week I was in Target and bought a cute new dress from The Webster collection.  It's this dress...

I haven't worn it yet and I'm wondering if I am going to hate those sleeves in a couple of weeks but it's cute, I loved the print and it was cheap.  Win, win.

Then tonight Aidan and I made another trip to Tarjay. Surprise, surprise. I had looked online to see if there was anything else I was going to want and I thought about some plates and glasses from the Privet House collection but I was a little bummed to find out it was all acrylic and melamine.  Great for summer but I just envisioned the tumblers cracking in the dishwasher and I know this sounds WEIRD but I hate how melamine sounds when you put it down.  It's so loud.  I told you it was weird.  (Looking at them now, they may be super cute for the price for the summer. I'm such a flip flopper).

both pics via

So I left with just this candle (two new baskets for MORE toy storage, some trash bags, a stock pile of Air Wick air freshener refills and some milk).  If you are in to spending $15.99 on a candle, this should be the one.  It smells amazing.  The scent is Warren Orchards with Black Fig and Honey.

We skipped the Cos Bar because it was a little bright for me.   Our dog is a total treat snot so we cruised right by the Polka Dog Bakery and The Candy Store was pretty picked over with the exception of candy you can always buy in different packaging for cheaper.  So there you have it, I have practically done all your shopping for you at Target this week. Your welcome.  Now don't forget to let me know if you find something wonderful in "The Shops" I am missing out on!

Mother's Day Weekend

I hope all you mommies out there had a wonderful Mother's Day.

Our weekend was relatively quiet.  Saturday night we did squeeze in a movie. We went to see the Avenger's.  Typically I wouldn't be drawn to that type of movie but it was Adam's turn to choose so I compromised. I was pleasantly surprised. I still don't know how it's made the most money of any movie EVER but it was good.

Every Sunday my Mom attends church by herself at 7:30am.  This week I woke up {with the birds} and surprised her at church.  I think she was really happy to have me there with her.  It's gotta be the world's most boring mass in the history of St. Gabriel's (no music) but it was nice and the important part was I got to spend some time with her.

Afterwards I treated her to breakfast and it was nice to have her all to myself for a little while.   Her life is so crazy with her move coming up and I always have Aidan. We were able to have uninterrupted conversation which was lovely.

When I got home it was still early enough that my boys were still snuggled up in my bed.  I crawled back in to bed between them and Aidan opened his eyes and said "Happy Mother's Day Mommy.  You are the Best Mommy in the Whole World."  I was soaking it up.  Next thing I knew, the boys were up and gone.  They had breakfast together at the Pancake House and then came home and surprised me with a new computer!!!  I was so excited.  My Toshiba was on it's last leg and it was impossible to do anything on the iPad so Adam knew it was just would I would want!  I also got a monogrammed Moon and Lola necklace but Adam was terrified he would mess it up so I have to place the order for it! I can't wait! I have wanted that necklace for months!  I love that my hubby pays attention to me and always gets me the best gifts.  It's also nice that I don't need Mother's Day to feel appreciated.  He praises me for being a wonderful Mother everyday.  It means a lot on those days that feel like nothing is going good!  You Mom's know what I mean??

We took off to my sister in law Mandi's house for the afternoon.  We caught up with Adam's side of the family for a few  hours and by the time we left it was pouring rain so we came home and the three of us changed in to PJ's and cuddled up on the sofa and watched some TV.  Adam gave Aidan his bath and put him to bed, we watched our Sunday night HBO and the day was over!

It was really the perfect day.

Pool Days

The weather this week has been amazing so we have been sneaking over to my Mom and Dads pool to lay out and take a dip. The water is a bit chilly but if you sit in the heat long enough, it feels great!

Aidan thinks its the greatest thing ever. He's pretty much swimming on his own now which is nuts but sort of not really surprising since I am such a lover of the water. He wears his goggles and likes to see what's under water. There's no chance for any two people to get to relax outside of the pool at a time because he always wants someone to swim with him. I usually end up in the pool and Adam ends up with a better tan.

I'm excited for my parents to move in to their new condo in the next month or so because they have a beautiful pool their as well. As a matter of fact, their balcony had a great view of it. As much as we love the Y pool, it's nice to be "at home" when your done with your swim. So we're looking forward to our time there this summer.
